Job Summary
A full-time Junior High School English Instructor is needed for the school year starting immediately. Applicants should have a BA in English. Experience teaching in a 1:1 iPad learning environment is highly beneficial. A typical teaching assignment includes 6 instructional sections and 2 prep periods within a block schedule. Base salary ranges from $77,000-$108,000, based on degree and years of experience.
Additional compensation is given for obtaining an ACSI teaching credential, a Master's degree, and a Doctorate's degree.
- Planning and Preparation:
Adapt curriculum using the scope and sequence and standards provided for each course, under the direction of the Department Head, as guided by the Campus leadership and Director of Curriculum. - Content expertise and best pedagogical practices
- Plan instruction based on characteristics of the students being taught
- Set rigorous and appropriate learning outcomes and daily lesson plans
- Ability to use resources and technology
- Design learning experiences appropriate for 75-minute block schedule and 1:1 learning environment
- Design effective and appropriate student assessments, including rubrics to measure success
- Design Biblical Integration in relation to the subject
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
- The teacher leads the room with calm confidence, setting a polite, fair, and encouraging tone.
- Establish a culture for learning for all students in the class
- Manage classroom procedures and student behavior
- Balance technology use with meaningful face-to-face interaction
- Organize physical space to support the learning process
- Communicate with students clearly and effectively
- Use instructional strategies that elicit thoughtful responses
- Engage students in learning
- Use varied assessments and provide meaningful feedback
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness in the classroom
- Deliver Biblical Integration by weaving in personal faith, scriptural references, and gospel truths into lessons
- Reflect thoughtfully and accurately on teaching
- Timely and accurately updates records
- Update Schoology regularly.
- Maintain a clear and accurate Schoology page.
- Take attendance and mark tardies as appropriate.
- Communicate with stakeholders (students, parents, counselors, peer teachers, administration)
- Proactively communicate clear information.
- Proactively share relevant information about individual students.
- Engage stakeholders in support of student learning as appropriate.
- Contact parents when a student is struggling.
- Respond to communication within 24 business hours.
- Service to the school and support of school leadership
- Participates in mandatory school events (e.g., Back to School Night, Open House, Hype Night, and Graduation).
- Fulfill professional responsibilities (e.g., accreditation documentation and supervision duties) with a positive and professional attitude.
- Support students by:
- Attending student performances and competitions.
- Providing extra help and tutoring as needed.
- Participating in school spirit (e.g., spirit week participation, spirit week supervision, houses).
- Growing and developing professionally
