Job Overview
Position:
Engineering – Thermoforming (second working level of the Engineering series). The role involves moderate to complex engineering tasks, project management, and leading routine engineering projects within the Thermoforming area of Amcor Flexibles North America.
- Safety
:

Determine customer needs and identify problems and safety concerns. Develop and evaluate solutions, define project scope, and prepare engineering package/documentation. - Collaboration
:
Interface with people, departments, and/or companies to ensure equipment is safe, on schedule, and to specification. Provide purchasing services for project materials, review vendors, coordinate with Purchasing, issue purchase orders, negotiate pricing, and expedite delivery. - Accountability
:
Manage project costs and scheduling; communicate pertinent data; complete project close‑out and post‑mortem analysis. - Results & Out performance
:
Participate in continuous improvement/kaizen teams and lead teams as requested. Maintain knowledge of current industry practices and assist with installation, checkout, start‑up and training as necessary. - Facilities Design
:
Apply company best practices to engineering design, layout, and installations. Perform testing and validation of facility and manufacturing infrastructure designs and systems, and conduct engineering calculations. Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications. - Controls Engineering
:
Plan and create programming, configuration, integration, networking, and communication services using HMI, SCADA, PLC manufacturers and protocols. Perform testing and validation of machine instrumentation and the controls package; integrate team IT resources such as PLC/machine control, HMI function, and edge devices. - Mechanical Engineering
:
Plan designs for mechanical machine systems; test and validate mechanical designs; perform engineering calculations; create and review technical drawings. - Electrical Engineering
:
Plan designs for electrical machine systems; test and validate electrical designs; perform engineering calculations; create and review technical drawings. - Industrial Engineering
:
Conduct studies for small‑scale projects concerning cost control, inventory control, and production record systems. Develop and implement optimized product flow, validate IE requirements, collect and analyze data, establish DES baseline, and propose automation solutions. - Automation
:
Investigate and develop new automation solutions (robotics, AGVs, cobots, inspection systems). Create test plans to manage risk, set FAT/SAT requirements, test and validate automation systems, and review technical drawings, proposals, RFQs, and specifications. - IoT & Data Analytics
:
Design and plan data collection and analysis, SPC, machine learning, and AI systems. Test and validate IoT solutions and deploy technology to the business.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, CS&E, Controls/Automation Engineering or related technical field.
- 3–6 years’ experience in relevant engineering disciplines.
- Knowledge of Thermoforming and manufacturing processes.
- 30% travel requirement.
