Salary Range: $67,558.40 to $94,827.20 annually, depending on qualifications
Position OverviewThe City of Oshkosh is seeking a Civil Engineer to join the Engineering Division of the Department of Engineering & Utilities. This position may be filled at the Entry Level Civil Engineer, Civil Engineer, or Principal Civil Engineer level, depending on qualifications and experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesThis progressive opportunity involves municipal engineering work in the areas of transportation, stormwater, and utilities. Responsibilities include designing and supporting Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects involving streets, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water mains, structures, and other public works improvements. This position serves as project engineer and prepares or reviews plans, specifications, estimates, reports, and related project documents. The role also coordinates with residents, contractors, consultants, and staff to support stormwater utility operations, customer billing, and project communication.
Additional responsibilities include reviewing development plans and stormwater reports for compliance with City standards and regulations, preparing documentation for permits and legal agreements, and maintaining engineering records and technical files.
- Entry Level Civil Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school and a valid driver’s license. - Civil Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, one to four years of progressively responsible municipal engineering experience, and a valid driver’s license. - Principal Civil Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, three to five years of related municipal engineering experience, and a valid driver’s license. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin is preferred.
