A Project Engineer to fill a current roadway construction engineering need. This role will be physically assigned to one or more construction projects in Southcentral Wisconsin to perform construction leader or inspection-related tasks and hold both field and office responsibilities. Tasks may include construction contract administration; material sampling, testing and tracking; completed quantity measurement; evaluation of performance; and project record keeping, including estimates, change management, project diaries, material documentation, and item record account.

This civil engineering role is an opportunity for a candidate who is looking for career advancement. This role will include project leadership under corporate mentorship. Work includes performing a variety of engineering duties involved with design, construction, and inspection of civil work projects under the mentorship of a 30+ year professional. Duties may be assigned on a temporary basis as needed to meet the workload of the company.
This position is expected to be motivated, assertive, accountable, and hold strong relationship building skills.
- Knowledge and experience with AASHTOWare Project or similar project documentation software.
- Solid communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Good command of English grammar and spelling. Ability to engage in formal and informal correspondence.
- Ability to prepare, interpret, and utilize plans, maps, specifications, special provisions, and reports.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations and to prepare engineering reports.
- Ability to use and maintain various engineering and survey tools and equipment, including but not limited to GPS and Auto Level.
- Current certifications with Highway Technician Certification Program or other.
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Working knowledge of MS Office suite.
- Familiarity with Construction Administration for Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
- Ability to prioritize, handle several projects at a time and be a “self-starter”.
- Ability to occasionally work after business hours and/or weekends.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with limited supervision.
- Computer-aided design skills such as AutoCAD, Microstation, etc.
- Ability to physically perform the essential job functions.

One to eight years’ experience in a related role.
Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
