Mechanical Engineer - Corporate

Job Description

Third working level in the engineering series. Incumbents routinely lead complex engineering projects. This role has no direct reports.

  • Coordinates/develops prepares and/or assembles the engineering package/project documentation for each assigned project. This includes designs, calculations, layouts, schematics, manuals, bid specs, etc.
  • Establishes Project Team, facilitates and documents Project team meetings.

  • Interfaces with people, departments, and/or companies to ensure that equipment is safe, made on schedule and to specification.
  • Provides the purchasing services for project materials required. This includes reviewing potential vendors, contacts with vendors, coordinating with the Purchasing department, issuing purchase orders, some price negotiation, and expediting delivery.
  • Assists, as necessary, in the interview process of candidates for filling openings within the department.
  • Communicates all appropriate information in a timely manner and manner to the necessary people within and outside the organization.
• Accountability
  • Manages project costs, project scheduling and supplies pertinent communication for multiple highly complex and wide-ranging engineering projects, which may vary in terms of scope and responsibilities.
  • Completes Project Closeout and Postmortem Analysis for appropriate projects.

  • Actively participates on continuous improvement / kaizen teams and leads teams as requested.
  • Leads efforts to secure and maintain knowledge of current industry practices for the department as they may apply to Amcor Products and equipment.
  • Leads mid to large scale project installations, checkout, start-up and training as necessary.
  • Identifies potential areas of improvement for department and develops proposals for action plans.

  • Controls
    • Conceptualizes, creates, and plans programming, configuration, integration, networking and communication services using equipment and software from a variety of HMI, SCADA, and PLC manufacturers, as well as various communication protocols.
    • Develops testing processes and performs testing and validation of machine instrumentation with the controls package.
    • Fosters integration and development of team IT resources related to engineering functions such as PLC/machine control, HMI function and edge device use.
    • Creates and reviews technologies to be used for future applications and extensions of current architecture.
