Position: Design Engineer I

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Design Engineer I for an assignment with one of our clients in Oshkosh, WI
.

Hybrid schedule: 3x weekly onsite.

The Engineer – Mechanical designs functional, reliable and cost‑effective heavy‑duty vehicle components. Performs engineering analysis, design or redesign, and development of components for existing and new vehicles.

Your Impact
  • Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks assigned according to client and industry engineering standards and processes.
  • Support senior engineers in preparing basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
  • Work on projects of limited complexity in a support role.
  • Collaborate with other engineering or business support disciplines internally and with suppliers externally.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
  • Enforce proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards; ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Perform and direct the preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Perform engineering analysis to support selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.
  • Provide non‑complex technical assistance for production support.
  • Analyze and resolve issues reported to engineering via verbal or written communication.
  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
  • Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to model system performance and optimize designs.
  • Communicate status of resolved issues to engineering via verbal or written communication.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Regular attendance is required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with internship experience or at least six (6) months of related work experience. Three or more years of experience strongly preferred.
Standout Qualifications
  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy‑vehicle equipment and related systems.
  • Experience with a high‑level CAD system.
