Senior Calibration Engineer – Xev Powertrain & Vehicle Motion Controls

The Senior Calibration Engineer – Xev Powertrain & Vehicle Motion Controls leads the development, optimization, validation, and production release of vehicle level calibrations that define the driving experience, efficiency, performance, and safety of Oshkosh's Delivery Vehicles.
This role serves as the technical lead for coordinating vehicle-level calibration activities across propulsion, regenerative braking, torque management, and integrated vehicle motion control systems such as ESP and EPAS. Working closely with Systems Engineering, Software, Hardware, Functional Safety, Validation, and Supplier Engineering teams, the Senior Calibration Engineer provides technical leadership across calibration development, system integration, and production release to deliver robust, production-ready vehicle calibrations.
The position supports the complete product development lifecycle—from concept definition and requirements development through vehicle integration, launch, production support, and continuous product improvement—while helping drive Oshkosh's transition toward software-defined commercial vehicle platforms.
Your impact:
- Lead the development, integration, validation, and production release of propulsion, chassis controls, braking, steering, ADAS, and body system calibrations to achieve a cohesive vehicle motion control strategy.
- Develop and own the vehicle-level calibration strategy for: vehicle drivability, torque arbitration and delivery, drive mode optimization, AC and DC charging, powertrain thermal management, vehicle securing, regenerative braking, one-pedal drive, traction control, electronic stability control, and anti-lock brakes.
- Define calibration requirements, acceptance criteria, and performance metrics supporting vehicle attribute targets including drivability, efficiency, ride quality, handling, stability, braking performance, and the overall vehicle motion control customer experience.
- Lead vehicle attribute development including drivability, launch feel, acceleration, brake feel, energy efficiency, handling, ride quality, steering feel, and overall driver confidence.
- Lead vehicle calibration activities during prototype builds, proving ground events, chassis dynamometer testing, winter testing, hot weather validation, and production launch activities.
- Lead the vision and strategy for Oshkosh Delivery Vehicle development tuning, integration, validation, and launch of vehicle level calibrations.
- Cross-functional support for Systems Engineering, software development, vehicle system calibration, integration, validation and launch activities.
- Analyze large vehicle data sets to optimize: torque response, powertrain performance feel, driveability, accelerator pedal feel, brake pedal feel, regenerative braking transitions, energy consumption, motor efficiency, vehicle stability, ride and handling, interface data between Powertrain, Chassis Controls, and ADAS systems.
- Lead cross-functional integration between Powertrain, Chassis Controls, ADAS, Body Controls, Systems Engineering, Software, and supplier engineering teams to deliver a cohesive vehicle motion control experience.
- Develop and maintain calibration documentation, release plans, and change management activities throughout the product lifecycle.
- Integrate supplier-developed software into vehicle platforms while ensuring compliance with program timing, quality objectives, and software release processes.
- Support development of control algorithms by providing calibration requirements, vehicle-level feedback, and production performance targets.
