The Engineer IV is responsible for providing expertise regarding new product development as well as continuous improvement of legacy systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include medium-voltage power circuit design, electrical system studies, component selection and sizing, and codes and standards compliance
.

The role will facilitate product development through design, validation, and production release while serving as a technical leader and mentor to the broader engineering team.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications Technical Expertise
  • Proven expertise in electrical design for power generation, power conversion, or power distribution equipment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in medium-voltage power applications
    , particularly mission-critical power solutions.
  • Experience with MV switch gear, paralleling equipment, transformers, or power conversion systems.
  • Working knowledge of IEEE, IEC, ANSI
    , insulation coordination practices, dielectric/hipot, and partial discharge testing.
  • Expertise in power circuit design, including transformers, breakers, contractors, busbars, cabling, thermal management, and grounding/bonding strategies.
  • Working knowledge of power electronics topologies including rectifiers, inverters, and DC/DC converters
    .
  • Experience with EMC/EMI design, mitigation, and compliance testing
    .
  • Experience developing and executing test and validation plans.
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD and analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent
    .
  • Experience with machine design and new product development from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, validation, and market launch of new power generation and power conversion products.
  • Own technical decisions from concept through production release.
  • Define electrical functional requirements and design power circuits, electrical distribution, and protection schemes.
  • Design medium-voltage (1 kV–38 kV) power equipment and distribution architectures.
  • Perform and review load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, and insulation coordination studies
    .
  • Develop and execute product testing and validation plans.
  • Create and review schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and material part specifications
    .
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable UL, IEC, NEC, IEEE, and CSA requirements.
  • Support agency certification activities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers, and product specialists.
  • Drive product development plans to meet schedule, product cost, and design input commitments
    .
  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor to less-experienced engineers.

  • Strong written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate technical information for engineers, executives, and other audiences.

  • Work independently with occasional guidance on challenging technical issues.
  • Solve complex engineering problems and recommend solutions and best practices.
  • Take ownership of electrical designs.
  • May lead small cross-functional project teams

  • Coach colleagues with less experience.
  • Participate in standards and procedure development.
  • Lead efforts to improve the financial impact of engineering activities.
