Deputy Chief Investment Officer

Responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and managing the insurance company's investment portfolio strategy to maximize returns and minimize risk and volatility. In collaboration with Investment leadership, contributes to investment strategy, asset allocation, investment guidelines, and risk management for all investment portfolios. Shares responsibility for overall investment results across the company.

• Formulate and recommend investment policies, strategies, and asset allocations for company portfolios. This includes utilizing portfolio optimization tools, balancing net investment income with Asset Liability Management (ALM) strategies, and allocating risk across various asset classes.
• Employ asset class risk modeling to assess capital tail risk during periods of volatility and adjust allocations to maintain tolerable risk levels. Evaluate and ensure adherence to investment guidelines for all portfolios based on portfolio optimization and ALM analysis.
• Prepare and deliver portfolio optimization analysis, recommended strategies, and investment guidelines to executive leadership and board of directors for approval. Serve as the primary contact for investment-related inquiries and reporting needs from within the company and externally from AM Best and insurance regulators.
• Monitor global and domestic economic, market, political and regulatory developments to assess their impact on portfolio performance and capital position.
• Model, forecast, and manage the annual net investment income plan, tracking variances monthly and updating forecasts throughout the year. Present the annual plan to executive leadership for approval.
• Manage the monthly total return performance calculation and reporting for company investment portfolios. Collaborate with other investment leaders to explain results quarterly for Board Reports using attribution analysis. Recommend and report appropriate benchmarks for each portfolio asset class to the board of directors.

• Manage critical investment data assets, ensuring accuracy for compliance, regulatory reporting, and internal analysis, and drive process improvements.
• Lead operations team responsible for trade/commitment processing and settlement, cash forecasting, record keeping, and generating various recurring/ad-hoc reports.
• Represent the company in annual or requested meetings with AM Best and insurance regulators as needed.
• Administers human resource-related activities including timely performance and salary reviews and ensures all subordinates adhere to human resources policies and practices. Selects, develops, motivates, and recognizes staff.

• Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in insurance investment management.
• Demonstrated expertise in economics, financial analysis, accounting, statistical analysis, and portfolio management theory.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with advanced analytical tools and investment management systems.
• P&C, Life & annuities experience required.
