Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS),
Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI), located near Oshkosh WI, is hiring an Institution Treatment Director. This position will be scheduled to work Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 4:30pm with scheduled on-call hours.

WMHI is a part of the Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) and is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults.

As the Institution Treatment Director, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, monitoring and directing activities within assigned buildings and directly supervising assigned hospital operations which include Client Rights, Admissions Department, and Unit clerical support to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws, certification and accreditation standards, and departmental and hospital policies.

Responsibilities include:

• Serving as a member of the Institute Executive Leadership Team and participating in development, implementation and monitoring of Institute programs and budgets.
• Participating in Division-wide strategic planning efforts.
• Collaborating statewide with county human services boards and circuit courts in developing and providing needed services for civil and forensic adults.
• Working closely with hospital Department Directors to define and monitor the roles of the interdisciplinary staff assigned to the units within the buildings.
• Participating in Institute committees, statewide committees and projects, and training and professional growth activities on an ongoing basis.
• Leading and supporting Quality Management activities as well as assessing and evaluating those activities to ensure continuing improvement of the quality of the services offered within the assigned buildings.
• Acting as the designated facility coordinator for patient admissions and treatment and representing the Institute on statewide topical committees.
• Collaborating closely with a counterpart Institution Treatment Director to promote consistency among units regarding policy, treatment approach and management of the therapeutic environment. The two Treatment Directors constitute a single scheduling pool and proactively back one another up to support programming hospital-wide when absences and off-campus assignments make one or the other unavailable.

The starting pay is between $49.00 and $54.00 per hour (approximately between $101,900 and $112,300 per year) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 24-month career executive trial period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 81/01.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the facility or medical personnel directed by the facility prior to their start date.

• Clinical experience providing diagnosis and treatment of mental illness in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting including working with community resources for discharge planning.
