Position SummaryThese positions assist in providing health care and services to persons in our care in a correctional institution infirmary or health services unit. Duties include assisting Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Physicians with direct patient care, including tasks such as: assisting patients in activities of daily living, hygiene and treatments; determining and recording vitals; and assisting in minor procedures. This position will perform patient record related clerical functions and other assigned duties in maintaining day-to-day functioning in a 24/7-unit operation.

This position is in pay schedule and range 06-12 with a starting pay of $27.22/hour
. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.
Pay rates for individuals with prior state service shall be set in accordance with their full years of state service.

5 Years of Service $29.49/hour
10 Years of Service $30.06/hour

Part‑time employees will receive some of the benefits listed above on a prorated basis.
This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site.
This position has physical requirements related to performing the job duties that involve being able to stand, sit, and move freely. This role will reposition patients, manipulate fine objects, and lift freely up to 40lbs to perform necessary tasks, and may need to occasionally climb stairs. A full list is included with the position description.
This position is a 60% FTE role that normally works three days a week from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM which includes every other weekend and rotating holidays. This includes a 30‑minute unpaid lunch. Some flexibility in days worked exists.
This position is FLSA Non‑Exempt.
This position is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis, but most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre‑employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre‑employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
