2nd Shift Press Brake Operator

Overview

Position Summary: The Press Brake Operator position will be responsible operating and maintaining the Press Brake and performing various fabrication projects as required.

• Competent use of hand, bench and light machine operations to perform deburring, filing, grinding and polishing on machined parts.
• Understand and utilize measuring tools (tape measure, squaring tools, electronic level, calipers, micrometers).
• Understand tolerances for parts and ensure conformance.
• Identify opportunities to improve machine performance and output.
• Maintain accuracy in alignment, dimensional inspection, and spot inspections of parts.
• Interpret work orders, blueprints and bills of material; complete and maintain required paperwork.
• Configure bend allowances for sheet metal (stainless, aluminum, and regular steel).
• Operate small forklift, pallet jacks, hoist, etc. to lift and transport materials exceeding 50 pounds.
• Perform cycle counts as prescribed by Production and Inventory Control.
• Maintain understanding of housekeeping expectations.
• Interpretation of work orders, blueprints, and bills of material to support production needs.

• Proficient in programming, setup and operation of CNC presses; must be proficient with all onsite press brake machines.
• Document tooling and safe practices for press brake operations.
• Ability to calculate blank sizes, bend locations, appropriate tonnage and tooling for each part.
• Detects equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and adjusts within capabilities; reports malfunctions to management.
• Communicates with management, production control, quality, and shop personnel to resolve machining or quality issues.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Demonstrates ownership and willingness to take on new and varied tasks to add value.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to understand basic fraction to decimal conversions and basic numerical dimensions.
• Ability to follow written, oral or diagrammed instructions and solve problems with multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Intermediate PC skills (email, databases, word processing, spreadsheets).
• Plan and prioritize tasks; adapt to changing priorities.

• Moderate physical activity; stand/walk/sit 33-66% of the time; communicate and operate in a production/technical environment.
• Hearing/listening and use of hands/fingers required; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl as needed (33-66%).
• Weight lifted: up to 50 pounds (some tasks may require lifting up to 100 pounds).
• Exposure: work near moving mechanical parts; moderate noise; no significant exposure to fumes, chemicals, or extreme conditions beyond normal manufacturing environment.
