Job Description

This role operates and monitors high-speed manufacturing equipment to convert materials according to established specifications and quality standards. The Machine Operator sets up, adjusts, and runs one or more machines, ensures proper material handling, and maintains accurate documentation while working safely and efficiently in a large, clean production facility.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, adjust, and operate one or more pieces of high-speed production equipment to convert materials according to established specifications, performing the majority of daily work on assigned machines.
  • Select appropriate job supplies and verify that materials meet order requirements before use, ensuring proper alignment on the machine to minimize waste and optimize material utilization.
  • Load materials onto and off the machine or equipment safely and accurately, taking care to position materials correctly to support efficient production.
  • Report any material discrepancies, equipment issues, or order concerns promptly to the lead person or supervisor.
  • Transfer completed materials from the machine to skids, pallets, containers, or other designated areas, ensuring products are handled and staged safely and neatly.
  • Repackage unused bulk stock to ensure proper storage and maintain a clean, organized inventory of materials.
  • Maintain equipment and the work area in a clean, orderly condition by performing routine cleaning and basic care of machines and surrounding workspace.
  • Package or prepare finished materials for shipment according to requirements, including tagging or labeling materials with all necessary information.
  • Complete work orders, production records, and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner to support the quality and production tracking programs.
  • Assist in monitoring required supplies, materials, and equipment, and complete inventory use slips for stock materials used during production.
  • Perform the job within rated production standards, maintaining consistent output and notifying the supervisor or lead person when production standards are exceeded or issues arise.
  • Follow and comply with all rules, procedures, and regulations of employment as outlined in the associate handbook and as updated through memos or other notifications.
  • Ensure all quality standards are met by performing required tests, inspections, and data collection, and by documenting results in accordance with the Quality Program.
  • Support other production activities and perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or lead person to meet overall production goals.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of machine operator experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience operating high-speed machines, regardless of industry.
  • Proficiency in operating and monitoring production machinery and related equipment.
  • Ability to use measurement tools, including a tape measure, accurately and consistently.
  • Ability to read and write clearly to follow work orders, instructions, and documentation requirements.
  • Basic math skills to perform measurements, counts, and simple calculations related to production and materials.
  • Troubleshooting skills to identify and respond to basic equipment or process issues during operation.
  • Ability to meet established production standards while maintaining quality and safety.
  • Capability to complete required paperwork, labels, and records accurately and legibly.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working in a large manufacturing or converting facility.
  • Comfort working mostly independently while also collaborating in small groups of 2–3 when needed.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure proper material alignment, labeling, and documentation.
  • Organizational skills to maintain a clean, orderly work area and properly store materials and supplies.
  • Reliability and consistency in attendance and performance to support production schedules.
  • Willingness to follow established policies, procedures, and quality standards.
