Job Description & How to Apply Below

Wald Wire & Manufacturing Co. is seeking a Mechanical Designer to support new-product development, production tooling, and continuous improvement initiatives. This hands‑on position combines CAD design with practical manufacturing experience, including the development of welding fixtures, forming dies, checking aids, and other specialized tooling. The ideal candidate will have past hands‑on shop experience and have transitioned into an office engineering or programming role.

Autodesk Inventor experience is a plus, but Solid Works experience would be pretty transferable. This will be a hybrid office/shop role, the person will be expected to design tools, program them, and then actually make them on the CNC machining center.

Pay: $25.00–$30.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated proficiency.

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor is required
  • Previous CAD drafting or mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, dimensions, and manufacturing specifications
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and measurement techniques
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, and other measuring devices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, management, customers, and other members of the engineering team
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects

Experience with Autodesk Fusion 360, CNC programming, machining, welding, manual mills, or manual lathes is strongly preferred. An associate degree in mechanical design, drafting, manufacturing engineering technology, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent relevant education and hands‑on manufacturing experience will also be considered.
