Overview

Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI) is recruiting to fill multiple Limited Term Employment (LTE) Registered Nurse (RN) positions. WMHI,
located near Oshkosh Wisconsin
, is a part of the Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) and is a psychiatric hospital providing quality mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults. Our RNs provide routine and complex patient care in a clinic and skilled care setting.

  • LTE positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to a permanent civil service classified position, and do not lead to permanent status.
  • Wisconsin residency is required for LTE positions.
  • No more than 1039 hours may be worked within a 12-month period.

Available shift: PM (2:30 pm – 11 pm)

These are not Pro Re Nata (PRN) positions.

Upon completion of seven weeks of training (Monday – Friday primarily from 6:30 am – 3:00 pm although some PM shifts may be included), you will be scheduled for three 8-hour shifts on any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday along with every other weekend, for a total of 5 shifts within a two-week pay period. You will not be able to choose which days you will work but there is some flexibility in scheduling based on operational needs.

You would be scheduled for shifts approximately 1 month in advance.

Position Summary Duties

As an RN, you will use the nursing process to implement nursing interventions in basic and complex patient situations ies include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing daily nursing assessments, responding to medical emergencies, administering medications and working as part of a multidisciplinary team in the provision of medical care.
  • Overseeing and providing guidance to other nursing staff (Certified Nursing Assistants), assuring patient health and safety needs are met.
Salary Information

Starting salary is between $42.86 and $49.61 per hour, based on years of licensure. Additional increases are based on years of licensure in the chart below.

  • 0 years: $42.86
  • 3 years: $45.06
  • 5 years: $46.19
  • 7 years: $47.33
  • 9 years: $48.48
  • 11 years: $49.61
  • $1.40/hour differential for RNs that work hours between 6pm and 6am.
  • $0.80/hour weekend differential applies to worked shifts.
  • This position is classified as a Nurse Clinician 2 and the pay schedule and range is 11/02.
  • Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
Job Details

All applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled. All appointees will be required to receive a TB screen, which will be administered by WMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date. DHS does not sponsor work visas for these positions;

selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.

Must be able to lift and carry fifty pounds several times a day (patient, filled laundry bags, equipment, etc.). Must be able to bend, kneel, crawl, twist and balance to assist in various situations. Must be able to push and pull carts and patients in wheelchairs and geri chairs, etc. Sit while working with coworkers, patients, or completing paperwork. Stand, walk and climb stairs while making routine rounds, moving self or patients to other areas.

Prior to beginning employment, candidates must pass a pre-employment health assessment and pre-employment physical ability and agility screening.
