The Department of Correitions is currently recruiting to fill multiple Part Time
Nurse Clinician 3 positions. These positions are based out of Oshkosh Correctional Institution in Oshkosh, WI (Winnebago County).

(1) 60% NC3 position which works 12-hour shifts, 2 days a week, which will include a rotation for holidays .

(3) 60% NC3 - Weekend positions which works 12-hour shifts Saturday and Sunday, rotating between 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM, 10:00 AM – 10:30 PM, 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM (same shift both days of the weekend, rotating between weekends) (See additional details regarding NC3 – Weekend below).

(2) 80% NC3 positions which work 8-hour shifts, 4 days a week and are scheduled to work every other weekend with a rotation for holidays.

(3) 90% NC3 positions which work 12-hour shifts, 3 days a week, normally Monday – Friday as assigned between 6:00 AM and 10:30 PM, with potential for some overnights, weekends, and holidays.

All shifts include a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Additional hours may be required based on operational needs. This includes all shifts and days, including holidays.

Position Summary

The Nurse Clinician 3 (NC3) is responsible for providing advanced skilled nursing care to incarcerated adults in the state correctional facilities in ambulatory, infirmary, long term care, and palliative care settings.

Advanced job responsibilities include: patient assessment and treatment, assisting the physician in providing medical services, developing and monitoring of treatment plans, coordinating treatment plans with treatment team, complex care related to activities of daily living (ADL), emotional/psychological support, management of medications, provision of emergency care, and maintenance of medical records.

In addition to direct healthcare provision responsibilities, this position will assist with staff assignment scheduling and appropriate delegation to nursing staff to meet the needs of the assigned patients or patient population.

Additionally, the Nurse Clinician is expected to develop and/or participate in educational programs for staff and patients about safe completion of Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s), chronic disease management, treatment plans, medical diagnoses, along with evaluating quality assurance of standards of care within the unit.

This position will serve as a consultant to uniformed and non-uniformed staff as indicated.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 11-01 with a starting pay of $47.04/hour - $57.23/hour
. The rate offered within this range will relate to years of licensure/credentialing as a registered nurse. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Candidates with no prior permanent employment with the State of Wisconsin in the past 5 years may be eligible to accept a sign-on bonus of $3,000. The sign-on bonus will be paid in two installments: $1500 on the first paycheck and $1500 with the paycheck for the pay period in which the employee attains permanent status (usually 1 year). (UW System employment isn’t disqualifying.)

To receive the bonus , a candidate must sign an agreement indicating they will remain in that position for a year . If the candidate leaves their position prior to completing the one year, they may be required to reimburse the initial payment.

Substantial leave time including at least 3.5 weeks of vacation to start, 9 paid holidays, and ample accrued sick time that rolls over each year.
