The Assistant Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the Appleton-Oshkosh-Neenah Area. In this position, the Assistant Manager supports store leadership in driving sales, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining Foot Locker’s standards of presentation and brand experience. Daily responsibilities include coaching and guiding sales associates, assisting with scheduling, overseeing cash handling and opening/closing procedures, and monitoring inventory and merchandising.
The role also involves resolving customer concerns, ensuring compliance with company policies and loss prevention practices, and contributing to a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven store culture. The Assistant Manager collaborates closely with the Store Manager to achieve key performance metrics and support the development of the store team.
- Retail operations and leadership skills, including experience supervising teams, managing shifts, and supporting store performance.
- Customer service and sales skills, with the ability to build rapport, identify customer needs, and drive a high-quality in-store experience.
- Organization and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail in cash handling, inventory processes, and store presentation.
- Communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to give clear direction, provide feedback, and work effectively with diverse team members.
- Basic business and technology skills, such as comfort with point-of-sale systems, sales reporting tools, and standard office applications.
- Prior experience in retail, fashion, or athletic footwear/apparel is strongly preferred; experience in a supervisory or key holder role is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by retail operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business, management, or a related field is beneficial.
