Maintenance Mechanic 3 – Lead
Location: Camp Murray, WA – Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA
Position: Lead maintenance mechanic responsible for skilled, journeyman‑level building maintenance, repair, and preventative efforts. Provides skilled work for facilities and leads maintenance mechanic teammates.
Responsibilities- Complete assigned maintenance, repair, and non‑repair tasks at journeyman level.
- Lead maintenance personnel to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Perform journeyman‑level preventative maintenance duties.
- Assist grounds and custodial crews.
- Two years experience as a Maintenance Mechanic 2; or
- High School Diploma or GED, completed a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade, and one year experience in journeyman–level building and equipment maintenance.
- Leadership experience in maintenance or repair efforts.
- Journeyman level understanding of building and equipment maintenance.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance methods, tools, and inventory.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, building codes, and regulations.
- Ability to read plans and blueprints; consult with supervisors on repair or remodeling recommendations.
- Proficiency with standard office equipment (computer, telephone, copier, scanner).
Wage/salary based on qualifications and promotion rules.
Conditions of Employment- Successful completion of required background investigations and security clearance.
- Valid Washington state driver’s license (REAL ).
- Willingness to work on a military‑controlled installation and meet access requirements.
- Work schedule options: 4‑10 or 5‑8 shifts with core business hours 8:00 am–4:00 pm.
- Occasional statewide travel up to 5% (including overnight stays) may be required.
