Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor Family Services program area at the Center, including eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, attendance, home visits, family needs assessment, referrals, child file reviews, case notes, transitions, collaboration with community agencies, parent education, family literacy, identification of community resources, and tracking of services.
- Manage family services using a case‑management systems approach: perform and monitor case reviews to identify immediate, short‑ and long‑term needs, and provide support for families through advocacy.
- Implement and monitor an ongoing recruitment plan within recruitment zones, including recruitment of children with disabilities to achieve funded enrollment.
- Coordinate and monitor the enrollment process of families, assessing eligibility status and determining enrollment priority using enrollment criteria.
- Obtain and verify documents such as health information (immunizations, health history, etc.) in accordance with licensing requirements.
- Maintain an effective filing system that safeguards confidential information and supports organization of children’s files.
- Coordinate and monitor the transition process, including developing files and creating surveys to determine if extended services are required. Create Migrant Child Care files when necessary.
- Enter and submit accurate service data and reports (e.g., Child Plus, family services monthly reports) to the Regional Office by requested dates.
- Report suspected child abuse and neglect in accordance with state law and UMOS policies and procedures.
- Attend center meetings, case reviews, trainings, and other program activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be 18 years old and have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred:
Two years of post‑high school education in Human Services or a related field and/or 2 years’ experience in Family Services in a Head Start setting, or an AA Degree in Social Work or a related field. - Experience with presentation/training and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (oral and written).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work irregular and/or flexible hours.
- Must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and adequate vehicle insurance.

Employment with UMOS is contingent upon successful completion of a motor‑vehicle record and criminal background check prior to employment. In accordance with licensing regulation, employees must complete a physical exam and TB test showing absence of tuberculosis within 30 days of employment. Employees must complete approved Fire Extinguisher Training, CPR, and First Aid within 30 days. If no AA/BA in social work or a related field, employees must enroll to obtain the Family Services Credential within three years.
