About the Role

Johnstone Supply, a leading wholesale distributor of HVACR equipment, parts, and supplies in North America, invites you to join our team. The Material Handler/Driver will receive, fill, and ship products accurately and efficiently while ensuring safe transportation and timely arrival to customers and other store locations. The role includes various warehouse functions such as receiving, order fulfillment, product picking, wrapping and packing, and inventory cycle counts, as well as driving duties including route sequencing, order verification, loading and unloading, and vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Operate basic power equipment (electric pallet, walkie rider, sit‑down forklift) to locate, put away, stack, and move checked‑in products to correct storage locations.
  • Receive product by unloading trucks using forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, or by hand.
  • Ensure shipments received are in good condition and accurate by inspecting freight for damage, signing freight bills, verifying quantities, checking against packing lists, and completing necessary paperwork for reimbursements or discrepancies.
  • Ensure all required products have verified bar code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving labeling discrepancies, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Fill orders by picking and packing items into cartons, stowing them to minimize damage, entering items into scan gun, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Document the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Prepare orders by palletizing, wrapping, loading pallets and pieces into trucks, placing packing lists on last skid, and completing necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain current accuracy and efficiency standards and follow all standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in inventory cycle counts and related projects in the current location and/or market as assigned.
  • Assist in maintenance and upkeep of all warehouse machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by working safely, following safety rules, keeping a clean work area, and reporting any safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors.
  • Always wear protective equipment per company policies, access Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed, and maintain required hazardous materials, forklift, and other certifications.
  • Maintain professional communications with customers and coworkers, treating all with a helpful and courteous attitude.
Driving Responsibilities
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers by providing exceptional service with accurate and timely delivery.
  • Serve as a key field contact for gathering accurate customer service and delivery expectations.
  • Safely operate company vehicles and equipment consistent with DOT, state, federal, and company standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the inside of truck, cab, box, and all assigned work areas.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned vehicle(s)/equipment; report defects, issues, or needed repairs promptly.
  • Load and unload trucks; verify deliveries against sales and transfer orders.
  • Prepare routes and follow schedules and deadlines for delivery, shipping, receiving, and related tasks.
  • Drive straight‑body vehicles, including box truck, to deliver supplies and equipment to customers, job sites, or other Johnstone store locations.
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive expedited delivery instructions.
  • Immediately communicate delivery, traffic, safety, and customer issues to supervisor.
  • Record sales and/or delivery information, complete manifest with pictures, signatures, and any returns via iPad or manual completion.
  • Return vehicle at the end of day, verify it is fully fueled, complete monthly driver log, and ensure the vehicle is secured.
  • Return gas receipts, monies, vehicle inspection logs, and any other necessary paperwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education And/or Experience
  • Required:
    • High School Diploma/GED; 1+ years of truck driving experience (26 ft vehicle or larger) or 1 year operating Johnstone equipment/vehicles under supervision; or…
