Truck Driver, CDL A – Midnight Shift

Job Summary

This position is on the midnight shift earning $26 per hour. The driver will safely operate a commercial truck with trailer(s) to deliver products to customers, assist with unloading, obtain delivery confirmations, and complete all required documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Safely drive a commercial truck with trailer(s) on the assigned route, making out‑of‑town deliveries as per schedule.
  • Maintain a DOT driving logbook or electronic logging device and other delivery documentation.
  • Assist with unloading trucks and trailers, verify correct products, obtain customer signatures, and secure freight.
  • Notify management of deviations, invoice discrepancies, damages, and customer returns, ensuring all paperwork is completed.
  • Report unsafe unloading conditions to dispatcher/supervisor.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections to ensure all mechanical, safety, and emergency components comply with DOT regulations.
  • Review driver itinerary, check route details, customer invoices, and ensure trailers are properly attached and maintain required temperature.
  • Complete all post‑trip duties: unload damaged or returned products, unhook and secure trailers, refill fuel, and record all deliveries and pickups.
  • Conduct simple vehicle maintenance such as cleaning, state inspection, tire inflation, and report repair needs.
  • Provide quality customer service at every delivery location, noting and reporting any issues or complaints.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (required).
  • At least six months of commercial driving experience or 50,000 miles (required).
  • Must pass a DOT physical examination and DOT pre‑employment drug test, with periodic random alcohol and drug testing.
  • Ability to work up to 60 hours per week, including nights and weekends.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and attention to detail skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to read maps, route schedules, and operate vehicles in varied traffic and weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations and DOT guidelines.
  • Flexible to work shifts, evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel.
  • Ability to work safely to prevent injury while driving, loading, and unloading vehicles.
  • Proficiency with GPS or Electronic On‑Board Recorders and basic computer skills (preferred).
Physical Requirements

The job requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds frequently during loading and unloading. Employees must also be able to push and pull loaded pallets or carts weighing up to 2,700 pounds. The role involves sitting for up to eleven hours per day and often climbing in and out of a tractor and trailer. Overnight travel may be required.

Employees will be exposed to various weather conditions and a low to moderate noise level, occasionally moderate to high noise.
