Employment Details:
* Work Hours:
Typical shifts are up to 8 hours per day- 8:30am-5:00pm with a 30min unpaid lunch break.
* This position may support more than one summer location
* Locations:
Basswood Elementary, Oak View Elementary, Weaver Lake Elementary and Woodland Elementary
* Staff Time Off:
Up to 5 unpaid days may only be taken during the summer.
* Staff hours and locations may be adjusted based on youth attendance, staffing needs, or field trips.
* All staff are expected to work through August 21, 2026.
Kidstop Youth and Family Instructors assist youth and supports youth success by providing specialized guidance, early interventions, accommodations, and hands-on collaboration with students, staff and families. This position helps ensure all youth including those needing additional behavioral, medical, sensory, academic, or physical support can fully participate in programming.
Who We Are
Kidstop offers a robust summer experience for incoming K-5 youth, serving around 1,200 plus working families during the summer months. We are committed to providing an enriching, caring, safe, and equitable environment with fun and exciting choices for youth to engage in daily.
* Youth experience a choice-based environment with age-appropriate activities and field trips.
* We build relationships with students, and learn what youth want to do and make it happen over the summer.
* We support all youth, and will add accommodations as needed.
* Youth are grouped by grade levels K-1, 2-3, and 4-5.
Responsibilities
Health and Safety
* Follow all District, program and building health and safety procedures.
* Communicate verbally and in writing accidents/incidents concerning youth/staff with the site Program Leaders and/or families as needed.
Supervision and Security
* Assist staff to actively supervise all youth in the program at all times and maintain tracking systems. Maintain clear visual and auditory supervision and adjust positioning based on activity, environment, and scholar needs.
* Maintain confidentiality and privacy of youth and families.
* Assist with planning and accommodations needed for field trips, adjust hours and/or locations as needed. Attend field trips to provide direct support if needed, ensuring all youth can participate safely and successfully.
* Actively supervise scholars in multiple indoor and outdoor environments, including playgrounds, fields, gymnasiums, cafeterias, community spaces and settings, but not limited to water parks, swimming pools, zoos, nature areas, museums, entertainment and amusement venues. Could be for extended periods of high heat and must follow all outdoor safety guidelines.
* Supporting scholars during water-based activities, which includes being in the water when required to ensure adequate supervision and safety. Staff are expected to wear appropriate swim attire, including one-piece swimsuits and Kidstop swim shirts.
* Support if needed at other Summer Kidstop elementary locations, coordinating daily with staff and stakeholders.
* Foster a collaborative environment to ensure the program meets youth needs effectively and safely.
Communication, Teamwork and Partnerships
* Attend and facilitate staff meetings and daily huddles as needed
* Role model positive supervision and inclusive practices.
* Coach staff on strategies, accommodations, logistics, and activity engagement.
* Assist in planning and delivering staff training sessions as needed.
* Provide in-ratio support when needed for breaks or student needs
* Maintain strong relationships with families; schedule ongoing communication (weekly, bi-weekly, as determined).
* Join and facilitate family meetings to support youth success and provide recommendations.
