Job Description
Job Summary:
The Registered Staff Nurse (RN) specializes in providing comprehensive postnatal care to mothers and newborns. The role involves delivering independent and collaborative nursing functions within the Mother Baby/Postpartum unit to ensure optimal patient outcomes and family support.
Responsibilities:
- Assess postpartum patients and newborns to identify needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Execute nursing diagnoses, evaluate outcomes, and revise care plans as appropriate.
- Educate families on breastfeeding, newborn care, and maternal health to promote wellness and confidence.
- Coordinate care among multidisciplinary teams, delegating tasks to care providers as needed.
- Document clinical observations and interventions accurately using Epic electronic health records.
- Participate in shared decision-making and quality improvement initiatives to enhance nursing standards and patient experience.
- Hold an active Minnesota RN license or be able to obtain a temporary license.
- Possess at least 1 year of postpartum nursing experience.
- Demonstrate proficiency with breastfeeding assistance and newborn care.
- Maintain current BLS certification (AHA or ARC).
- Have recent experience with Epic EMR and working with newborn and adult populations.
- Provide current skills checklist and two supervisory references with employment dates.
