The Supervisor, Transit Control Center is a full-time, on-site role based in Osseo, MN. This role oversees daily operations within the Transit Control Center, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable service across Metro Transit’s bus and rail network. The supervisor monitors real-time service, responds to incidents, service disruptions, and emergencies, and coordinates with operators, field supervisors, maintenance, and safety personnel. They provide direction to control center staff, prioritize service restoration, and make operational decisions that support schedule adherence and customer satisfaction.
The role also includes reviewing performance data, preparing reports, documenting incidents, and contributing to procedures, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience in transit operations, transportation control centers, dispatching, or related fields, with a strong focus on safety, service reliability, and incident response.
- Leadership and supervision skills, including the ability to coach staff, provide clear direction, support performance development, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Operational planning and problem-solving skills, such as prioritizing competing demands, managing service adjustments, and coordinating responses to service disruptions or emergencies.
- Communication and collaboration skills, including clear verbal and written communication with operators, supervisors, management, emergency responders, and other stakeholders.
- Technical proficiency with control center software, real-time tracking systems, radio communications, and standard office applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets, reporting tools).
- Ability to work in a 24/7 environment, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, and to remain calm and effective during high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of transit industry practices, safety regulations, and customer service standards; familiarity with the Twin Cities transit network is beneficial.
- Relevant education or training in transportation management, public administration, logistics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
