Wastewater Operator
The Operations Tech I (Wastewater Operator) works under the direct supervision of the Operations Foreman and Operations Supervisor. This position performs a variety of tasks associated with the Wastewater Treatment Plant process. Operates sewage treatment processes, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in the wastewater treatment plant to control the flow and processing of sewage. Observers and controls the performance of various biological, chemical, and physical treatment units.
This is a skilled, technical position that requires the individual to work in a safe and effective manner while potentially being exposed to hazards, including pathogens and diseases. Successful candidates shall possess the ability to perform their assigned duties with a high degree of independence.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3 – 5 years of experience within the Wastewater Industry
- Valid State of Illinois Class 4 or 3 Wastewater Operators License.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, tools, and methods involved in operating a wastewater treatment plant.
