Machinist
Proman is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our growing team in Oswego, IL. This role focuses on hands-on, manual machining of complex, high-precision parts used in equipment repair—not CNC production. The ideal candidate takes pride in accuracy, craftsmanship, and teamwork.
Job Details for Manual Machinist position:
- Location:
Oswego, IL 60543 - Job Type: Full-Time
- Shift: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Overtime as needed)
- Pay: $25.00–$30.00 per hour
- Language:
English or Spanish
Job Responsibilities for Manual Machinist position:
- Machine complex, high-precision parts for equipment repairs
- Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers, gauges, and measuring tools
- Inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and quality standards
- Identify and report defective materials or equipment issues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Perform mechanical assembly/disassembly as needed
- Collaborate with team members and support additional shop tasks as assigned
Job Requirement for Manual Machinist position:
- High school Diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience operating manual machining equipment preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing or repair environment
- Strong blueprint reading and close-tolerance machining skills
- Proficient with precision measuring tools
- Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving skills
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or sit for extended periods
- Crane or forklift experience is a plus (training available)
