Job Description

Paraprofessional-Bilingual Spanish Preferred (ECEAP) - 7.0 hours/day @ ECEAP (2 positions)

Responsibilities
  • In partnership with the Preschool Lead, participate in planning of the educational program and assist with the implementation of the daily classroom routine, including music, meals, group projects, free choice time, and supervision of students.
  • Interact positively with all children to support individual learning and meet their emotional needs.
  • Collaborate with Preschool Lead to prepare and organize classroom materials in accordance with the planned schedule and routine.
  • Collaborate with the site team, families, and family support specialists to plan and conduct family events.
  • Support Preschool Lead in planning, carrying out, and participating in educational planning meetings with families.
  • Complete daily attendance, meal, and snack count records and submit them following district protocol.
  • Assist with record keeping on individual children and families with the Preschool Lead.
  • Complete written observations of individual children throughout the year.
  • Develop a learning plan for each child within 90 days of school entry in collaboration with Preschool Lead.
  • Administer standardized screening tools as directed.
  • Prepare and serve snacks and meals; facilitate mealtime service and join children at the table for support and conversation.
  • Administer first aid as needed.
  • Assume responsibilities of the Preschool Lead in their absence.
  • Participate in recruitment and training of family and community volunteers with Preschool Lead as directed.
  • Participate in staff trainings, staff meetings, and other educational opportunities to continue learning best practice strategies.
  • Collaborate with staff, families, and site team to ensure smooth transitions for children and families, including transitions to before/after-school care and between ECEAP and Kindergarten.
  • Other duties as assigned by building principal and/or administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have one of the following qualifications:
  • Washington State Early Childhood Education Certificate (ECE) Initial Certificate or higher
  • DYCF approved equivalent
  • High School Diploma or GED with an approved professional development plan (PDP) granting eligible new hires five (5) years from the date of hire to become fully qualified with (a) or (b) above.
  • At least one year of experience working in a preschool classroom or similar setting (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively to students, parents, staff, and volunteers in a diverse environment.
  • First aid and CPR certificate (provided by district) within 90 days of hire.
  • Physically able to occasionally lift or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to perform all duties.
  • Ability to focus and have clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more.
  • MERIT Portable Background Check.
  • MMR vaccine or proof of immunity.
  • Completion of one-step Mantoux tuberculosis (TB) skin test, unless written proof of one of the following:
    • A negative Mantoux TB test in the 12 months prior to hiring.
    • Medication therapy to treat TB.
    • A recent negative chest X-ray and a statement from a health care provider that the individual does not pose a risk to others.
  • Must be able to work in heat and cold (outside seasonal temperatures).
Terms of Employment

Starting Date: August 25, 2026

Salary: Per PSE CBA - Schedule A

Hours: 7.0 hours

Contracted Days: 179 work days & 7 holidays (186 total contracted days)
