Job Description- Observe & assess children's development using tools directed by the director; attend training to administer assessment if needed.
- Administer standardized screening tools on every child throughout the school year. Maintain complete confidential records for each child.
- Provide an integrated, child-centered, comprehensive curriculum and multicultural environment that meets the needs of every child, including those with disabilities.
- Plan and develop a daily schedule of classroom routines and activities.
- Prepare and implement lesson plans in accordance with ECEAP performance standards or other early-childhood standards as directed by the director.
- Design the learning environment and set up the classroom.
- Implement and supervise developmentally appropriate learning activities.
- Build positive relationships with children. Interact positively with all children to support their individual learning and meet their emotional needs.
- Involve parents by communicating regularly and respectfully with families and involving them in the educational program through parent meetings, family events, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Provide leadership and support to the paraprofessional. Collaborate with the paraprofessional to prepare and organize the classroom and classroom materials.
- Assist with planning, preparation and serving of snacks and/or meals; participate in and facilitate mealtime service, and join children at the table for support and conversation.
- Participate in OSD in-service staff trainings, staff meetings, PLCs, and other education opportunities.
- Work in collaboration with preschool staff and administrators to ensure smooth transitions for children and families before and after school and between preschool and kindergarten.
- Stay informed on ongoing changes and updates to programs, standards, and assessments.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for preschool children.
- Ability to adjust to varied situations, demands, and new instructional concepts.
- Ability to attend occasional evening meetings.
- Proactive self-starter with a strong sense of initiative moving forward without waiting to be told what to do and how to do it.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must have one of the following qualifications:
- An associate or higher degree in Washington State Early Childhood Education Certificate (ECE).
- DYCF approved equivalent.
- High School Diploma or GED with an approved professional development plan (PDP) granting eligible new hires five (5) years from the date of hire to become fully qualified with (a) or (b) above.
- At least 2–3 years of experience working in a preschool classroom or similar setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively to students, parents, staff, and volunteers in a diverse environment.
- First aid and CPR certificate (provided by district) within 90 days of hire.
- Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty‑five (25) pounds.
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to perform all duties and requirements.
- Ability to focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus), with clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and at twenty (20) feet or more.
- MERIT Portable Background Check.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine or proof of immunity.
- Completion of one-step Mantoux tuberculosis (TB) skin test, unless written proof of one of the following:
- A negative Mantoux TB test in the 12 months prior to hiring.
- Medication therapy to treat TB.
- A recent negative chest X‑ray and a statement from a health‑care provider that the individual does not pose a risk to others.
- Must be able to work in heat and cold (outside seasonal temperatures).

Salary: Per PSE CBA - Schedule A
Hours: 7.0 hours
Contracted Days: 179 work days & 7 holidays (186 total contracted days)
