POSITION: Emergency Substitute Teacher
LOCATION:
District Wide
Job Description:
This position will involve working as a substitute/on-call teacher to assist schools on a program need basis. The positions will be varied, and may include instruction with basic education and disabled students in self-contained and regular education settings, and performing other job-related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
* Teach lesson plans and instructions as directed by the absent teacher.
* Maintain a clean, respectful, and orderly classroom, and follow classroom and school procedures as directed by the school
* Leaves notes for the regular teacher at the end of the teaching day
* Communicate in a friendly and positive manner towards parents, students, and administrators
* Keep records on attendance, accidents, and incidents
* Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
* Ensure the safety of students at all times
Required Qualifications:
* Must have or the ability to obtain a valid Washington State Teacher's Certificate or Emergency Substitute Teacher Certificate.
* Must hold a AA degree or higher or relevant experience may be substituted.
* Experience working with children and students preferred.
* Ability to communicate professionally with students, parents/guardians, administrators, and other school staff.
* Ability to follow and enforce rules, policies, and procedures.
* Must be punctual and reliable.
* Able to pass a background check.

* Copy of your Washington State teaching certificate if currently held or Emergency Substitute teacher certificate
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Mobility:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, push or pull 18-26 lbs., sit, kneel and crouch, twist and bend, use hands to type, finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arm.
Sense:
The employee is required to talk/hear conversations and other sounds. The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. The employee is required to taste and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Lifting:
The employee must be able to lift or move up to 10 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 26 lbs; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.
