Provides leadership and oversight for the district's transportation and custodial services operations. Coordinates transportation maintenance, routing, staffing, and operational functions while supervising custodial staff, training programs, and facility cleanliness standards. Ensures compliance with safety regulations, efficient use of resources, and effective delivery of transportation and custodial services to support district operations and student success. Assumes responsibilities of the Director in their absence.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSTransportation OperationsSchedule mechanic work hours to produce the most productive and cost-effective maintenance program possible.Assign daily transportation maintenance tasks according to priority and ensure that out-of-service issues are corrected in a timely manner.Approve purchase order requests for transportation parts and supplies.Maintain maintenance and parts control databases and inventory systems.Maintain accurate inventory of fuel in compliance with EPA procedures.Reconcile transportation invoices for accuracy and legitimate purchases.Process recalls and warranty work for district vehicles.Perform or assist in collision investigations involving district vehicles.Complete vehicle maintenance records and reports.Assist in STARS preparation and reporting, routing, and transportation planning.Assist drivers with student behavior concerns and communication with administrators.Assist with payroll documentation, timesheets, and trip records.Drive a bus on an emergency basis when necessary.Assist with winter road checks and transportation-related emergency planning.Custodial SupervisionSupervise custodial personnel district-wide, including assigning work schedules and monitoring performance.Develop, coordinate, and deliver training programs for custodial staff on cleaning procedures, safety practices, equipment operation, chemical handling, and district expectations.Conduct regular inspections of school facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with district standards.Provide coaching, support, and performance feedback to custodial staff and recommend corrective action when necessary.Coordinate custodial staffing and substitute coverage to ensure adequate support at all district facilities.Assist in developing and implementing district-wide custodial procedures, standards, and best practices.Monitor custodial supply inventories and approve orders for custodial equipment and materials.Ensure compliance with OSHA, WISHA, SDS, blood borne pathogens, and other applicable safety regulations.Collaborate with principals and department administrators to address facility maintenance, cleanliness, and operational concerns.Assist in emergency preparedness planning and coordinate custodial response to emergencies, weather events, and special projects.Participate in evaluating custodial equipment and recommending facility improvements and efficiencies.General Administrative ResponsibilitiesAssist in department budget development and monitor expenditures for transportation and custodial services.Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation required by the district and regulatory agencies.Perform other related duties as assigned.PHYSICAL DEMANDSPhysically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds.Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements.Ability to focus (adjust eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or GED required.Associate's degree or equivalent experience in transportation, facilities, operations, business administration, or related field preferred.Three to five years of supervisory experience, preferably in transportation, facilities, maintenance, or custodial operations.Experience in employee training, evaluation, and supervision.Experience in budget development and management preferred.Knowledge of custodial operations, facility maintenance, cleaning standards, and safety regulations.V…
