Kitchen Assistant – 4.0 hours/day, @McFarland Middle School (Primary Location) (work hours 10:30 am-2:30 pm)

• Under supervision, perform varied semi‑skilled food service tasks, to include, but not limited to: food preparation, cooking, setup serving lines and salad bars, cleanup kitchen area, wash dishes, carry garbage to dumpsters.
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Work additional hours and perform work related duties at other building locations as requested by food services supervisor.

• Ability to compute basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Be punctual, dependable, maintain good personal hygiene and have a positive, team‑player attitude.
• Must obtain food handlers permit within 14 days of employment and maintain current card thereafter.
• Perform physically demanding work as required to meet the needs of food service department.
• The job requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
• Able to regularly lift 20‑25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work safely with and around hot surfaces.

Starting Date: 08/24/2026
Salary: Per PSE CBA – Schedule A ($20.44 to $27.96 per hour)
Hours: Per position above (start/stop time determined by supervisor)
Contracted Days: 181 work days & 7 holidays (188 total contracted days)
