Job Description

Students must be in receipt of OSAP or out-of-province assistance during the current or prior academic year (for summer work terms) or must have a demonstrated financial need determined using Financial Aid and Student Awards standardized needs and assessment budget calculation tool. For students to be eligible for CSEP positions, they must be registered in a full-time program, be a domestic fee-paying student, and must be able to demonstrate a financial need by successfully applying for OSAP or out of province financial aid funding.

The part-time Student Printer Fleet Technician works under the direction of the Manager, Print Services to maintain maximum uptime of the public facing printers and multi-function devices accessed by students at the Algonquin College Ottawa campus.

In the Student Printer Fleet Technician role, the incumbent must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, be able to communicate clearly, solve problems effectively, work independently and within a team and be able to work up to 24 hours per week. The Student Printer Fleet Technician has a key role in supporting student printing on campus, and the incumbent is expected to work pro-actively to prevent printer failures from occurring and react quickly to resolve printer issues if and when they do occur.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Monitor and maintain all student printers.
  • Maintain printer uptime by being proactive to ensure that printer paper drawers are replenished and ensure that printers do not run out of paper.
  • Maintain printer uptime by replacing printer toner cartridges as needed.
  • Replenish paper and consumables storage locations as needed.
  • Report problems with printers to the Print Optimization Officer and Manager, Print Services.
  • Coordinate tasks with other Student Printer Support technicians.
  • Collect data on student printing activity.
  • Report on printer activity to Print Optimization Officer and Manager, Print Services.
  • Perform basic printer maintenance functions including.

    - clearing paper jams - clearing printer errors and printer queues - replacing toner and consumables when required
  • power cycling printers when required - cleaning and decluttering printer work areas.

    - cleaning printer surfaces.
  • Monitor printer lab print activity.
  • Assist in posting and maintaining printer signage, instructions and labeling.
  • Assist students with connecting to Algonquin College WIFI.
  • Assist students with installing print software.
  • Assist students with printing, scanning and copying functions.

This position is funded through the College Student Employment Program (CSEP). Applicants must be eligible for CSEP.

You must be currently enrolled in a full-time program. The following students are not eligible :
Better Jobs Ontario, Apprenticeship Programs, International students, Algonquin College employees paying a reduced tuition, Collaborative programs with the University of Ottawa or Carleton University and all programs that are not Ministry-approved;

You must be a Canadian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or a Protected Person/Convention Refugee within the meaning of subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) prior to the Final date to receive applications date;
