Position: Staff Product Manager, Fraud

Overview

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Our mission to deliver honest financial products that improve lives extends beyond borders — and it depends on customer trust as we scale. We are at an inflection point:
Affirm’s expansion across products, partner distribution channels, and international markets requires a platform‑level Trust & Safety strategy that protects customers and preserves a seamless, dignified experience. As a Staff Product Manager for Trust & Safety (Fraud), you will lead that strategy, ensuring fraud prevention is embedded into the product in a way that is transparent, respectful, and customer‑first.

You will be the accountable product leader for fraud prevention across the company, driving cross‑org execution across Engineering, Fraud Analytics, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and international Product teams. This role focuses on platform leverage, multi‑team alignment, and executive‑level decision‑making, with customer trust as the north star.

Responsibilities
  • Customer‑First Platform Strategy:
Define and execute a multi‑year fraud platform strategy that scales across products, partner channels, and global markets while protecting customer trust and minimizing unnecessary friction
  • Leadership & Alignment:
Be the accountable leader for fraud prevention. Drive organizational alignment, negotiate resources, and create momentum across teams to deliver holistic solutions that protect consumers and merchants
  • Experience‑Aware Decisioning:
Own the evolution of fraud decisioning systems and step‑ups to balance loss prevention with clear, humane customer experiences
  • Roadmap Ownership:
Build and prioritize a roadmap that balances immediate risk mitigation with platform‑level innovation and long‑term resilience
  • Measurement:
Establish KPIs that capture loss prevention and customer impact (e.g., approval rates, friction costs, recovery outcomes)
  • Experimentation at Scale:
Drive rigorous experimentation to improve both fraud outcomes and customer trust, translating learnings into durable platform capabilities
  • Executive Communication:
Shape company‑level decisions with clear narratives on customer impact, risk posture, and tradeoffs
Qualifications
  • 6+ years of Product Management experience, with sustained ownership of multi‑team, platform‑level initiatives
  • Deep experience in Trust & Safety, Fraud, Risk, Payments, Fintech, or regulated, high‑scale platforms
  • Proven ability to define and execute multi‑year product strategy with measurable business impact
  • Strong technical fluency (APIs, data pipelines, ML model integration, experimentation, IDV and authentication technologies)
  • Exceptional cross‑org influence and stakeholder management, including executive alignment
  • High‑agency, autonomous leader who thrives in ambiguity and drives outcomes at scale
  • Metrics‑driven decision maker with strong product judgment and principled tradeoff‑making
  • This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
