The Role
Join the Market Insights team in the Senior Specialist, Economic Modelling position. In this role, you will lead and contribute to the development of economic models that analyze housing market dynamics, supporting data‑driven strategies to improve housing affordability.
What You’ll Do- Use advanced statistical and econometric modelling techniques to develop leading edge models related to CMHC’s core objectives.
- Contribute to forecasting exercises from conception to completion, focusing on macroeconomic forecasting and communicating technical expertise to senior audiences.
- Build out expertise in demographic projections and population mobility analysis.
- Build relationships with internal and external parties, such as colleagues within CMHC and other government organizations, to share knowledge.
- Produce briefing material (analytical notes, reports, presentations, etc.) to senior management on matters related to Market Insights’ core objectives.
- Contribute to the development of sector‑level analysis planning, priority setting, and risk management.
- A postgraduate degree in Economics, with specialization in macroeconomics, forecasting and projections, or modelling.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in economic modelling, forecasting, and population analysis.
- Experience in conceiving and executing complex models for business decisions and analysis.
- Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in coaching and mentoring others.
- Bilingualism (English/French).
