Overview

The Senior Category Manager is responsible for end-to-end procurement activities, including planning, issuing large and complex requests for proposals (RFPs), negotiating major contracts for goods and services, and coordinating with internal stakeholders to obtain best value for the College.

Responsibilities
  • Contract negotiation and vendor management, including sourcing strategies, end-to-end RFx processes, and renewal negotiations to obtain favorable terms.
  • Coordinate and conduct supplier negotiations and manage vendor relationships and service level agreements.
  • Prepare proposals and oversee administrative interfaces with internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with procurement policies and college standards.
  • Project management across multiple procurement initiatives, monitor vendor performance, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Support purchasing activities across departments with emphasis on Facilities Management, including Facilities Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering.
  • Represent Procurement as a strategic leader on special projects and provide input to cross-college stakeholders and steering committees.
  • Develop procurement timelines, co-own confidential strategy documents, and oversee RFP processes from end to end.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and LEAN initiatives; monitor industry trends to achieve savings and value-driven negotiations.
  • Provide guidance to Procurement staff and support in vendor meetings and day-to-day processes.
  • Provide training to college staff on purchasing policies, procedures, and enterprise systems.
Qualifications
  • Minimum three (3) year degree/diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance or related fields; equivalent combination of education and work experience may be accepted.
  • Professional designation such as SCMP, CPSM, CPPB or other related credentials preferred.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in procurement or a related field.
  • Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills; ability to work with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to apply internal control standards, manage multiple projects, and demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with PC and mainframe financial packages and spreadsheet software; strong analytical and coordination abilities.
  • High ethical standards and the ability to handle restricted information with candor.
  • Note:

    This position is paid at Payband 10 and eligible for hybrid work in line with the College’s Flexible Work Arrangement Policy.
