Mandatory training in June 29 & 30
40 hours/week – summer camp
Desired Results of the Position- Ensure the well-being and safety of young children at camp.
- Create an enjoyable and enriching camp experience through the delivery of exciting, engaging and inclusive activities.
The Algonquin Wolves Sports Camp-Camp Counsellor is expected to follow and model the camp values through the delivery of quality and inclusive sports camp programming while creating a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all. Camp Counsellors will dedicate a portion of their summer to providing a fun, dynamic and supportive environment for camp children, youth and their families.
Job Duties- Attend and complete all Mandatory Training
- Plan, facilitate, and lead in the delivery of sports camp activities throughout the day and ensure proper cleanup of those activities.
- Provide guidance, support and mentorship to campers, helping them to develop new skills and gain confidence.
- Establish connections with every camper by demonstrating empathy, understanding and kindness.
- Foster a positive and welcoming camp environment by promoting teamwork, inclusivity and respect.
- Model appropriate behaviour and attitudes for campers to emulate.
- Report and complete paperwork as required in a timely manner (incident/accident reports, etc.)
- Practice confidentiality when being trusted with any camper personal or family information.
- Always demonstrate leadership, sound judgement, professionalism and maturity.
- Remain in frequent contact with the Campus Recreation Coordinator.
- Arrive to camp on-time, clean and wearing your assigned camp uniform.

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a child-oriented programs
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates
- NCCP – Rule of two training
- AODA Accessibility training
- High Five certification an asset
