JOB SUMMARY
The mandate of Community Recreation & Cultural Programs is to build an inclusive, vibrant, and creative city, unique in identity, and rich in culture. The Service provides strategic vision and innovative leadership in managing customer centric sports and recreation venues and programs, including the management of facilities and/or land for the delivery of indoor and outdoor recreation programs and services, and fosters an environment in which Ottawa’s arts, heritage, festival and event sectors can evolve sustainably.
Under the guidance of a Program Coordinator, you are responsible for assisting with the coordination of recreation, arts, aquatics or sports programs for preschoolers, children and youth during the summer months as well as the implementation of activities, supervision of staff and assumption of the Coordinator’s responsibilities, when required. You also ensure participants have a safe and enjoyable camp experience. The programs may take place indoors, outdoors, in one or a variety of locations.
Work is performed in accordance with related legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Note:
minimum age of 16 years is required for this Summer Student job.
High School Graduate - Entering college/university in the fall
Note:
Student must be returning to school in the fall
Minimum of 4 months but less than 8 months of related experience is required - candidates must possess experience in recreation programming
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES
Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C and AED certificatesAODA Accessibility/IASR Training Certification in relevant coaching/aquatics/recreation programs is an asset
