Your RoleUnder the direction of one or more producers, you will contribute to the production, direction, and post‑production of the program "Ottawa Morning" and other English and French programs. The incumbent coordinates the work of others, performs programming functions and technical operations, and upholds CBC/Radio‑Canada journalistic and programming standards.
Specific Responsibilities- Propose content ideas and assist in developing program objectives
- Participate in the development of program content, including writing texts, conducting research, or editing; prepare scripts and ensure adherence to the program style and format
- Ensure that equipment, facilities, sources, and personnel are ready to meet service and program requirements
- Set up and operate the equipment required to meet programming and production objectives
- Edit and mix programs or program segments, ensuring optimal sound quality and appropriate sound effects
- Participate in the evaluation of all aspects of the production
- Produce programming elements
- Direct a program, live or pre‑formatted, in studio or on location
- Present material on air
- Organize participation of interviewees, creative collaborators, and other program participants; prepare contextualizations, introductions, interview questions, conduct necessary research, and ensure host preparation
- Maintain appropriate communication or rapport with the audience
- Select and play musical pieces, sound effects or news bulletin excerpts
- Edit, encode, digitize and package digital audio and images for the website using appropriate technologies
- Graduation from University and three (3) years of practical and relevant experience, or graduation from Community College and five (5) years of practical and relevant experience
- Bilingualism (English/French)
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline‑driven environment
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team
- Resourceful and proactive
- Comfort with computer tools
- Knowledge of Dalet, iNews and Avid production tools
- Knowledge of the Lawo production environment
