Take on a pivotal role as a Senior Writer at Radio-Canada, focusing on Fact-Checking and News Verification. Based on-site in Ottawa, this position requires bilingual proficiency in English and French to combat misinformation.
In this permanent, full-time role, you will create and verify content across Radio-Canada’s platforms, including radio, television, and digital channels. The Senior Writer will address complex news issues through rigorous fact-checking, image verification, and clear storytelling, ultimately aiding audience understanding of the verification processes. You will use a variety of sources and collaborate on cross-regional initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Research regional and national disinformation trends
• Validate claims and visuals using open-source intelligence
• Draft clear content for broadcast and digital media
• Provide feedback on team-produced scripts and copy
• Partner with regional stations on collaborative projects
Requirements:
• Degree in journalism, communications, or related field
• Minimum five years in fact-checking or investigative journalism
• Proficiency in English and French at advanced levels
• Understanding of the broadcasting and digital ecosystem
• Technical skills in tool development are beneficial
