This opportunity will be used to staff positions within the following streams:
Stream 1: The Engagement Branch Graphic Designer turns ideas, information, and stories into engaging visual experiences that connect with employees and the public. Blending creativity, curiosity, and technical expertise, this role brings concepts to life through innovative print, digital, and environmental design solutions, while championing the organization's visual identity and creating accessible, high-quality communications that make an impact.
Stream 2: The Integrated Threat Assessment Centre and Strategic Bureau Graphic Designer turns intelligence assessments into engaging visuals that are communicated clearly, efficiently and thoughtfully to provide decision makers with critical information that can be quickly absorbed and used to make informed decisions. ITAC and SB value close engagement with analytic teams and collaboration with production partners. Creative problem solving, analysis skills and client service skills are important, as is an eye for detail, consistency and accessibility.
Stream 3: The Engagement Branch UX Designer crafts intuitive digital experiences that empower citizens and employees to seamlessly engage with essential services. Combining empathy, analytical thinking, and technical expertise, this role leads user-centered design—including research, testing, prototyping—to deliver solutions that meet Government of Canada accessibility and service design standards, turning insights into impactful experiences that make a difference.
Job Summary- Analyzing complex information, data, and technical concepts and translating them into clear, engaging, and visually compelling communication products such as infographics, diagrams, illustrations, and other graphic design solutions that support audience understanding and decision-making.
- Expanding branding architecture and developing creative approaches for internal stakeholders, programs, and initiatives.
- Modernizing the organization's corporate identity and ensuring consistency, quality, and brand integrity across all internal and external communication products.
- Delivering quality products that adhere to departmental corporate identity standards, including the Government of Canada’s Policy on Communications and Federal Identity, as well as copyright and licensing, official languages, and accessibility requirements.
- Researching, evaluating, and implementing emerging design technologies, software, tools, and production techniques to enhance creative services and support evolving organizational requirements.
- Designing, and producing high-quality visual communications for print, digital, and multi-media, including publications, brochures, factsheets, posters, advertisements, infographics, briefing products, presentations, websites, exhibits, displays, memorabilia and other communication materials.
- Designing and producing engaging 3D exhibits, environmental graphics, event materials, static and motion graphics that support outreach and engagement.
- Preparing production-ready files and coordinating with internal clients, printers, and external vendors to ensure accurate, cost-effective, and high-quality production of materials.
- Leading user research and usability testing to improve digital experiences and ensure accessibility.
- Designing user journeys, wireframes, and prototypes for digital platforms.
- Developing information architecture and navigation models to enhance usability and support business goals.
- College or post-secondary diploma in graphic design or a related field education and two (2) years of experience, OR Secondary school diploma and four (4) years of experience.
