At CBC/Radio-Canada, we create content that informs, entertains and connects Canadians on multiple platforms. Our successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance. Do you think you have the ability and drive to keep up with this exciting, ever-changing industry? Whether it be in front of the camera, on air, online or behind the scenes, you would be joining a team that thrives on making connections and telling stories that are important to Canadians.
CBC News is looking for an innovative and versatile video producer with a strong interest in world news and excellent field video producing skills to join our new bureau in Jerusalem, covering the Middle East. If you’re a creator at heart and enjoy storytelling and producing content across visual formats, this job could be for you. At a time when the world, and Canada’s place within it, is rapidly changing, being present on the ground to bring stories Canadians want and need to know about is critical.
As part of our expanding world coverage team, you’ll work closely with a correspondent in Jerusalem, your colleagues in other world bureaus and journalists with Radio-Canada, who will also be working in the Jerusalem bureau. You bring a deep knowledge of the historical complexities of the Middle East and the confidence to help shape the CBC News editorial coverage. You’re a technical whiz who will be shooting, editing, packaging and publishing content using a variety of gear and apps.
This includes social video content, live hits, live streams and on demand content. You are also strong editorially. You have story ideas and are thinking about creative treatments to attract new and younger audiences through social-first formats. You excel at guiding stories from concept to post-production, and are quick to pivot when plans change. You are deeply committed to the values of a public service broadcaster.
You uphold the CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices, especially our core principles of accuracy, fairness, balance, impartiality and integrity. You understand that stories can break at any time of the day and you have a genuine desire to be on-top of that coverage. The position requires long-hours, flexible schedules and a willingness to deploy on a moment’s notice, including to conflict zones.
The minimum assignment length for this position is two years and, if agreed to by both parties, may be extended for up to an additional two years.
