ACADEMIC OPERATIONSThis is a term role for 6 months.
Reporting to the Business Planning Manager, the Finance Analyst’s primary responsibility is to ensure that all business functions are efficiently and effectively carried out with established business processes, especially those directly related to financial processes. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing and analyzing budgets for academic program areas, contracts, and grants. Further, the individual will monitor trends of internal data and budgeting in order to provide data that guides efficiencies.
This role is crucial in establishing and maintaining the feasibility and sustainability of our academic programming for Nor Quest 2030 and beyond.
- Prepare budget, forecast, and variance analysis for assigned areas.
- Provide financial management support for assigned areas.
- Participate in financial planning and the development of finance and contract processes.
- Support budgeting process and revenue/expense tracking, including preparation of journal entries.
- Carry out financial procedures related to tracking and monitoring expenses/revenue, coding, and processing of invoices, etc.
- Assist in grant reporting and proposal creation.
- Identify, design, map and implement process improvements that align with college policies and procedures.
- Prepare budgets and costing analysis for various contract training proposals, open‑enrolment, and grants.
- Support development of budgets for contract and/or grant proposals.
- Assist and maintain quality assurance using established processes and follow‑ups.
- Contribute to divisional projects that improve efficiency and operational workflows.
- Ensure alignment with Nor Quest’s policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
- Collaborate with financial and academic teams to map, improve, and communicate about changes in business processes across the division.
- Act as the business planning point of contact as assigned.
- Review College policies and procedures and provide feedback as required.
- Minimum qualification of an applicable diploma.
- Minimum of 3+ years in related experience in a post‑secondary institution.
- Ability to analyze financial data and communicate with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities as the position requires a lot of administration and transactional work.
- Advanced knowledge of MS365; particularly Word and Excel. People Soft would be an asset.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and possess a high degree of confidentiality with tactful business acumen.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to human resource, operations, data and financial management.
- Ability to perform in a high‑volume, fast‑paced work environment with excellent time management.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Understanding of financial principles with a strong aptitude with numbers and software.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills demonstrating the ability to articulate plans, direction and delegation in a logical and sequential manner, and communicate and summarize complex financial information for key stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact collaboratively and productively within and across units with diverse faculty and staff.
AUPE Band Level 7 | Analyst II | $57,318 – $74,468, reflective upon what you bring (i.e., your education and experience). This is a 6‑month temporary (1.0 FTE) position, with the possibility of extension, with the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE).
