Join the Investments and Pension Fund Team, in the Senior Specialist, Public market Investments position. We are looking for a Senior Specialist with broad investment management experience in fixed income analysis, portfolio management, and trading. Experience or knowledge of other asset classes would be desirable, including in equity research. The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated individual who thrives in ambiguous situations, quickly adapts to changing circumstances and takes initiative to drive progress.
As an integral part of the public market investments team, you will provide substantive analytical and trading expertise in the management of a wide range of investments, including CMHC’s internally managed investment portfolios. This permanent position is an exceptional opportunity within a dynamic and collaborative environment for an investment professional with excellent communication skills.
- Participate in the overall management of the investment portfolios.
- Conduct fixed income and equity research to meet return objectives within the constraints established by investment objectives, strategies and policies.
- Execute trades for CMHC’s portfolios (identify, select, invest, disinvest and reinvest assets) ensuring best execution and resolve settlement issues that may occur.
- Extract, compile and analyze investment data from portfolio management systems to produce reports on holdings, volumes, transactions and/or commissions to support divisional and corporate reporting.
- Develop quantitative models, metrics, and analytical tools to support investment management, performance measurement, and risk monitoring.
- Coordinate, review, and report on the asset management activities of various investment portfolios.
- Lead research and analytical efforts for projects as required.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions.
- Liaise with external stakeholders and the broader investment community to stay informed on developing trends.
- An undergraduate degree in business administration, economics, finance, commerce, or a related field.
- A minimum of seven years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Experience in fixed income analysis, bond portfolio management and trading.
- An understanding of capital markets and macroeconomics in an investment context.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with technology tools and applications such as spreadsheets and databases.
- Experience with Bloomberg or other similar platforms.
- Solid oral and written communication skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Strong project management and organizational skills to oversee and carry out a wide variety of complex investment‑related projects.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision or guidance.
- Experience or knowledge of other asset classes including equity research and financial analysis, money markets, and REPO transactions would be beneficial.
- Relevant designation such as Chartered Financial Analyst.
