About the role

Join the treasury team, in the Senior Specialist, Treasury position. In this role, you will contribute to the development, implementation and delivery of programs and strategies, and support ongoing activities with regular analysis and reporting. Your demonstrated experience in treasury operations will enable you to deliver proactive analysis and recommendations that enhance program effectiveness, operational efficiency, and overall business outcomes.

What you'll do:
  • Monitor the financial markets and communicate regularly with Canada Mortgage Bond dealer contacts to acquire market intelligence and ensure information flow regarding CMB/Treasury programs.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies and procedures with respect to the pricing, funding and risk management for CMHC's Lending programs (existing and future).
  • Execute, support and provide analysis for financial market transactions related to CMHC's funding, investment and risk management activities.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies and procedures for addressing liquidity requirements, including in support of CMHC's Timely Payment Guarantee.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of CMHC programs and mandates and proactively drive initiatives and change forward by leveraging strong internal and external relationships.
  • Implement new quantitative measurement metrics for Treasury's activities and proactively seek and recommend new opportunities to add value through quantitative analysis.
  • Support the development/maintenance of risk management policies and contribute to the effective management of CMHC's financial risks.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with external (e.g., Canada Mortgage Bonds dealer contacts) and internal contacts (e.g., Assisted Housing, three lines of defense, Department of Finance, Bank of Canada).
What you should have:
  • An undergraduate degree in business, finance or economics.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following areas: treasury, capital markets, fixed income, public-sector finance, financial policy, debt management, financial risk management, investment management, or related advisory/analytical roles. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • An understanding of the workings of the capital markets and the economic environment.
  • Experience conducting financial, market, policy or risk analysis and translating findings into clear strategic advice and recommendations.
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience with spreadsheets, databases, market data, quantitative tools or other financial applications.
  • The ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • A detail-oriented approach to work and commitment to delivering accurate information.
  • The ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • A demonstrated relationship management skills.
It would be great if you also had:
  • The chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and/or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Experience working with or advising public-sector financial institutions, central banks, finance ministries, Crown corporations, regulators, institutional investors or capital markets participants would be considered an asset.
