About This Role:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, Program, the Senior Finance Analyst, Programs (SFA), will be responsible for providing the financial support services to the Programs. The SFA will coordinate all aspects of the finance and accounting activities, ensuring accurate transactions and timely reporting to ensure compliance with Contribution and Funding agreements.

What you'll be doing:
  • Prepares/reviews monthly and quarterly financial reports for Program staff and External Funders as required.
  • Supports the analysis of financial results, explaining any major discrepancies against budgets, and prepares financial results to senior management and external funders.
  • Leads internal audit processes, as per FCM's approved audit policies and procedures; writes audit reports, including any discrepancies and recommendations reports to the Finance Manager; and follows up with recipients on audit results and action items.
  • Supports the Finance Manager during external audits.
  • Coordinate with Program Managers to liaise with funding agencies with respect to all financial aspects of assigned projects.
  • Prepares and reviews grant contracts, and disbursement requests, to ensure compliance with External Funders' contracts regulations and requirements.
  • Prepares the FCM due-to-from, inter-fund reconciliation.
  • Coordinates the budgeting process by providing advice to Sr. Managers concerning budget items included in their workplans.
  • Participates in annual budget/forecast preparation in collaboration with the budget holder and the Manager of Finance and is responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of the final annual budget/forecast.
  • Works with Program teams on mid-term projections and revisions.
  • Develops, delivers and organizes financial training sessions to Program staff.
  • Supports Finance manager with strategic advice to Program Director and Program Manager on the financial management of the program and the implications of decisions on projects.
  • Guides Finance Officers on the work to be performed and priorities setting.
  • Responsible for month‑end activities, cash flow monitoring, and ensures that journal entries are recorded in a timely manner and account reconciliations are completed monthly.
  • Responsible for document retention for audit and Funding Contribution requirement purposes.
  • Monitors grants to ensure recipients are paid in a timely manner.
  • Continually reviews departmental financial and accounting practices and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvement to management.
  • Supports the team, and the Finance Manager on ad hoc tasks and initiatives.
Knowledge and

Experience:
  • Experience in accounting or finance typically acquired through a college or university degree and a minimum of 7 years direct practical experience in an accounting role, including 2 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong knowledge in budget preparation and monitoring, fund accounting, and preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports, including month end and year end analysis and preparation of lead sheets and other documentation.
