Employment Type: Full time

Salary Range: $160,000 - $190,000

The Opportunity

CREA is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Finance to lead the organization's finance function and support its long‑term financial sustainability. Reporting to the Vice‑President, Business Operations & Member Services, the Head of Finance serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and plays a central role in strategic planning, governance, financial stewardship and organizational decision‑making.

This position oversees financial planning and analysis, accounting operations, financial reporting, treasury, audit, enterprise risk management, compliance and financial systems. The role also serves as the primary management liaison to the Board's Finance, Audit and Risk Committees and provides leadership to a high‑performing finance team.

The Head of Finance is responsible for delivering accounting services to  Canada Inc. through a shared services model, ensuring strong financial stewardship and service excellence across both organizations.

The Head of Finance serves as a strategic partner to the Vice‑President, Business Operations & Member Services, CEO, and executive leadership team and Board of Directors. The role has broad accountability across financial strategy, reporting, governance, enterprise risk management and organizational performance, providing an opportunity to influence key decisions and help ensure CREA's long‑term financial sustainability. In addition to leading the finance function, the position plays an important role in supporting organizational priorities, strengthening governance and guiding the continued modernization of financial systems, processes and reporting capabilities.

What

You'll Do Strategic Leadership
  • Provide strategic financial leadership that supports CREA's priorities and long‑term sustainability.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and multi‑year financial planning.
  • Advise senior leadership on financial strategy, business planning and organizational performance.
  • Assess financial implications of major initiatives, investments and business opportunities.
Financial Management and Reporting
  • Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting and financial controls.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial information, analysis and reporting.
  • Lead treasury, cash flow, reserve and investment management activities.
  • Ensure appropriate short term and long term stewardship of organizational assets and financial resources.
Governance, Audit and Risk
  • Serve as the senior staff lead to the Board and its Finance, and Audit and Risk Committees.
  • Lead the annual audit process and oversee implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Support the organization's enterprise risk management framework and financial governance practices.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
Systems and Continuous Improvement
  • Lead financial systems, reporting tools and process improvements.
  • Champion modernization, automation and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Support the implementation and optimization of financial technologies and business processes.
