The Finance Manager, Area X.O is responsible for the overall financial planning and analysis for the Area X.O team. This role focuses on the accuracy of expense reporting, revenue recognition and ensuring compliance with both internal and external financial controls and standards. This role leads the preparation and analysis of financial reports, supports cash flow, budgeting and forecasting for the team, and contributes to audit readiness.
The Manager also acts as a key liaison for procurement policy and procedures, ensuring their effective application, while providing financial insights to support decision-making for team leads.
Hybrid role requiring 10 in-office days per month, primarily at Area X.O with some time at Bayview Yards.
Corporate Pay Band D: $76,000 - $114,000
Hiring Salary Range: $76,000 - $104,500 (Segment 1

Reason for Opening:
Backfillinga position.
- Produce and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for the Area X.O team
- Contribute to accurate and timely cash flow projections
- Review and approve journal entries and schedules specific to Area X.O activities and projects, including revenue recognition and cost allocations
- Apply GAAP and not-for-profit financial principles across a range of program contexts
- Work with team leads to collect the financial data behind annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
- Develop budgets to support funding proposals, with activities scoped by Area X.O in consultation with Program Management
- Review and approve project reports submitted to funders
- Maintain compliance with internal controls and not-for-profit financial guidelines
- Support financial and program audits, and make the judgment calls on audit readiness
- Act as a key liaison for procurement policy and procedures, and ensure they're applied consistently
- Deliver clear, timely financial insight to team leads, verbally and in writing
- Interpret finance policies and procedures, train colleagues on finance systems, and walk stakeholders through monthly reports
- Mentor colleagues and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, inclusion, and belonging
- Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes
- Improve the quality and timeliness of financial reporting
- Adapt as program needs and organizational priorities evolve
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration or related field
- Accounting designation (CPA) is an asset
- 5 to 7 years of experience, of which at least two (2) must managing direct reports
- Working or volunteering with a Not-for-profit organization would be an asset
- Strong communications skills, oral, reading and writing
- Experience with revenue recognition, cost allocation, and project- or fund-based accounting
- Comfort building and maintaining budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Familiarity with internal controls and what auditors will ask for before they ask
- Strong spreadsheet skills and confidence working in an ERP or financial reporting system
- Experience preparing financial reporting for external funders is an asset
