Housekeeper | Nights/Days Unscheduled Part Time

VIVA Retirement Communities is seeking a motivated, energetic Housekeeper to support our community in Carleton Place, Ottawa Valley. The role requires a commitment to high standards of cleanliness, customer service and safety, and a willingness to work flexible nights, days and occasional weekends.

• Follow the housekeeping schedule (daily, weekly, monthly) as outlined for the department.
• Clean floors using dry and wet mops, sweep and disinfect as necessary.
• Provide emergency housekeeping during accidents or special events.
• Clean movable and stationary furnishings, dust, spot‑clean, wash, disinfect, polish where required, and change slip covers and doilies.
• Empty and clean ashtrays, waste baskets, and dispose of garbage.
• Straighten and rearrange furnishings; inspect for wear and report defects.
• Clean bathrooms (private, public, staff) and disinfect fixtures, floors and walls; replenish supplies.
• Perform cleaning duties in suites upon move‑out and prepare for new occupants.
• Wash, fold, iron, and deliver laundry as required.
• Follow infection control protocols and update them during outbreaks.
• Perform supervisory duties during fires or emergencies on overnight shifts.
• Complete other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Self‑management and time‑management with minimal supervision.
• Team‑player attitude and understanding of others’ priorities.
• Ability to bend, stretch, sit and stand for long periods; lift up to 50 lb.
• Experience with commercial laundry and cleaning equipment.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends.
• Completion of the Safety 24‑7 online training program.
• Experience in housekeeping duties is an asset.
• Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
