And Responsibilities
Responsibilities include: supporting the Director, Labour Relations (Academic) in the day-to-day operational requirements of the department; providing research and recommendations regarding the interpretation of collective agreements; coordinating various academic labour relations initiatives; assisting with gathering information related to grievances; assisting in the preparation for and coordination of joint union-management committees; providing situational analysis as needed; supporting activities related to negotiating, maintaining, and ensuring adherence to the university's collective bargaining agreements.
QualificationsThe incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
- Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
- Ability to write/amend documents that accurately capture issue(s).
- Ability to use independent judgement and to manage and impart confidential information.
- Ability to analyze complex information, and to define and solve problems.
- Ability to investigate and analyze claims information and to draw conclusions.
- Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
- Knowledge of current and emerging legislation, issues and trends as appropriate to the position.
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- A Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
- Minimum of three years of previous labour relations and human resources program and service experience.
