Job Title: Manager, Human Resources and Labour Relations
Location: Kanata, Ontario
Salary Range: $86,710 – $97,648

About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven organization as the Manager of Human Resources and Labour Relations. The role is a key member of the management team, responsible for shaping people practices, fostering a positive workplace culture, and leading labour relations in a unionized environment. The position is on-site five days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Leadership & Strategy
  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that support organizational goals and enhance employee experience.
  • Modernize employee lifecycle processes, including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention.
  • Advise on policy, compliance, and HR best practices.
Labour Relations & Collective Bargaining
  • Provide guidance on collective agreement interpretation, administration, grievances, and arbitration.
  • Lead and support negotiations and collective bargaining processes.
  • Collaborate with union representatives and managers to maintain positive labour-management relations.
Talent Management & Employee Programs
  • Lead recruitment for key roles and develop succession pipelines.
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation programs.
  • Design and manage employee programs that foster engagement, equity, and inclusion.
  • Monitor trends in compensation, benefits, and total rewards programs.
Employee Relations
  • Coach and support managers on performance management, disciplinary matters, and employee development.
  • Conduct investigations, manage grievance processes, and provide conflict resolution guidance.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with legislation and collective agreements.
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP, CHRL, or equivalent).
  • 5–10 years of progressive HR experience in a unionized environment; non-profit experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of labour relations, collective bargaining, arbitration, and grievance management.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and foster an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • HRIS experience (e.g., Dayforce) is an asset.
  • Fluency in English;
    French is an asset.
